Easter is celebrated during the spring of each year. It is a moveable feast: the exact date changes every year. On this occasion, many people exchange chocolates shaped like eggs. Some families decorate eggs and organise Easter egg hunts for children. For Easter, bunnies and chicks are often represented on decorations.

The word Easter comes from the name of the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre who had a hare (or rabbit) as her companion. Together, they represented fertility and rebirth. The goddess also brought new life and spring with her, which was often represented by eggs. When Christians made Easter a Christian celebration, they removed the goddess, but kept her name, bunny and eggs.
