Globalization is changing the scope of issues. These days, issues can involve several countries on different continents. For example, a global economic crisis does not just affect one country. Global warming also impacts the entire world. Many institutions were set up during the 20th century to better manage these issues and establish common rules to facilitate their management. Each institution plays a specific role in addressing political, economic or legal issues.
One of the institutions that manages political issues is the United Nations (UN), which has several programs, such as UNICEF, UNESCO and FAO.

The World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) address economic issues that affect almost all countries.
Legal issues are handled by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), which bring governments and citizens who commit serious crimes before a tribunal.
