20th-Century Technologies

There were many advancements in technology during the 20^th century. These advances occurred in rapid succession. Way of life was transformed by the emergence of many technical innovations. There were near-revolutions in a number of fields, particularly transportation and communications.

Improvements in cars as well as in urban, maritime and air transportation were made thanks to new technologies. Air transportation made its debut in the 20^th century and developed very quickly. Communications also evolved rapidly, in particular with the emergence of the telephone, radio, television and information technology.

Due to these many technical innovations, humans were able to travel into space, fulfilling a dream. The first space voyages took place during the 20^th century, along with humankind’s first steps on the Moon.
