Brother Marie-Victorin was a Canadian religious and botanist. He is best known for his work in botany and the publication of the Laurentian Flora. Throughout his life, he campaigned for the democratization of access to university education and scientific knowledge.

1885: Conrad Kirouac is born on April 3rd in Kingsey Falls, Quebec.

1901: At age 16, he joins the Brothers of the Christian Schools, taking the name Brother Marie-Victorin.

1920: Becomes professor of botany at the University of Montreal.

1931: Founded the Montreal Botanical Garden.

1935: Publishes a book on Quebec botany: the Laurentian Flora.

1944: He died on July 15 in a car accident; he was 59.
