Summary of the editing step of the writing process. Editing is where we check that sentences are clear, complete and of varied lengths and structures. We make sure the subject-verb agreement and pronoun reference are accurate. We take a look at punctuation, spelling, capitalization, verb tenses and word choice. Also, we check that paragraphs are clear, well-organized and use transition words.

Word choice should be precise, meaningful and repetitions should be replaced with synonyms. Summary of the writing process. Step 1 is the prewriting where we do brainstorming and planning. Step 2, drafting, is when we put ideas on paper, making a rough copy. Step 3, revision, is when we reorganize, add and/or delete ideas. Step 4, editing, is when we check grammar and spelling. Step 5, publishing, is when we make the final touches and a final copy and share the text.
