Physics studies the properties of matter and space-time through experimentation and the development of concepts.

Physics (Latin physica, from the Greek phusikê) is a science interested in the foundations of the Universe, their interactions, the forces exerted on them, and their consequences. Its purpose is to explain various phenomena by establishing laws that govern them and to develop formal models capable of describing and predicting the evolution of systems. Physics, in relation to other sciences, is the source of several innovations and inventions in our daily lives, whether in the field of health, transport, energy resources, or telecommunications.

The concepts of the physics program are focused around two general notions: optics and mechanics. First of all, optics are treated from a geometrical point of view. It is particularly interested in phenomena which involve the trajectory of light, in particular the deviations it undergoes in the presence of obstacles. Then there is mechanics, which is divided into three sections. The study of kinematics makes it possible to describe the movement of objects by means of various notions such as position, speed, time, and acceleration. The study of dynamics is interested in the causes that can generate a variation in a movement. Finally, the study of energy transformation makes it possible to understand how a simple machine, or a complex system, can modify the mechanical energy required for a task.

A general section has also been included on the website in order to remind the students of the Science and Technology concepts required to study physics.
