| club | A place indoors where people go to listen to music, dance and socialize. |
| festival | An event, usually outside, that lasts one or more days. It features many artists and acts on different stages. |
| recording studio | A soundproof room with special equipment where people record and edit music. |
| concert | A live performance where artists play music for an audience. |
| stadium | A very large sports arena that’s outside or covered with a dome. |
| theatre | A building with a stage and seats for the audience, where people watch shows performed on stage. |

| sound | Anything you can hear with your ears. |
| beat | The regular pulse of a piece of music that makes you tap your feet. |
| rhythm | A regular, repeating pattern of beats in music. |
| tempo | The speed of a piece of music (how fast or slow it plays). |
| pitch | How high or low a musical note sounds. |
| octave | The distance between eight musical notes (for example low C to high C). |
| tune | A synonym for a song, but a tune does not always have words. |
| melody | The main sequence of musical notes that forms a tune. |
| harmony | Beautiful notes played or sung at the same time as the main melody, to complement it. |
| composition | A creative piece of original music that someone has written. |
| verse | A section of a song that tells the story; each one with its own words. |
| chorus | The main part of a song that repeats several times with the same words and melody. |
| bridge | A short unique section of a song that connects the verse and the chorus. |
| album | A collection of many songs released together by an artist on a record, a CD or on digital streaming. |
| artist | A person who creates or performs art (music, dance, visual art, etc.). |
| improvisation | Creating or playing music without reading notes or planning. |
| chord | Three or more different musical notes played together at the exact same time. |
| arpeggio | Playing the notes in a chord quickly and in sequence, instead of all together. |
| sight reading | Playing or singing the very first time you see the musical notes, without practising first. |
| producer | The person in charge of recording a song or album and making the finished product sound good. |
| to produce | To help an artist record and mix audio to create a finished song. |
